DeForest Area Public Library
The fifth library location honors community history and enables an expansion of services
Supreme Structures served as construction manager for the DeForest Area Public Library, a 35,132-square-foot facility designed as a modern interpretation of traditional Norwegian stave churches. Built to honor the community’s heritage and support expanding services, the project included significant value engineering to add required square footage without affecting the budget, design intent, or construction timeline.
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
- Architectural features including a natural stone base, heavy timber structure, steep roof, diamond-shaped copper shingles and glass façade with patterned lannon stone
- Four custom roof-mounted dragons, each made from 14 pieces and weighing 100 pounds
- Added 2,000 sq ft mid-project to meet code without increasing cost or extending schedule
- Expanded amenities: meeting and study rooms, computer access, self-checkout, notary and database resources
